Dr. Monica Burns is a Curriculum and EdTech Consultant, Apple Distinguished Educator and Founder of ClassTechTips.com. As a classroom teacher, Monica used technology to create an engaging, differentiated learning experience to meet the unique needs of her students. Realizing the power of digital tools in the classroom, Monica started ClassTechTips.com to provide a resource for educators. Since starting ClassTechTips.com, Monica has presented to teachers, administrators and tech-enthusiasts at numerous national and international conferences including SXSWedu, ISTE, FETC and EduTECH. She is a webinar host for SimpleK12 and a regular contributor to Edutopia. Monica is the author of Tasks Before Apps: Designing Rigorous Learning in a Tech-Rich Classroom (ASCD), #FormativeTech: Meaningful, Sustainable, and Scannable Formative Assessment with Technology (Corwin), Deeper Learning with QR Codes and Augmented Reality (Corwin), and co-author of Taming the Wild Text: Literacy Strategies for Today’s Reader (Shell). Monica’s mission is to help educators place the tasks before apps and promote deeper learning with technology.
Dr. Robert Corbin is a Doctor of Philosophy and National Board Certified Science Teacher serving as Director of Global Initiates for Discovery Education. Robert served as VP of Learning Experiences at the Discovery Place Science Center in Charlotte, NC between 2006 and 2016. He is a North Carolina Science Leadership Fellow, associate professor at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and adjunct professor at Wingate University. He is an Arts and Science Council Lifetime Achievement Award recipient, Christa McAuliffe Fellow, North Carolina Science Leadership Fellow, Duke University Sawyer Fellow, Time Warner Cable All Star Teacher, Ben Craig Award recipient, Omnicron Psi Outstanding Science Teacher, Whitehead Educator of Distinction, and NAGT Outstanding Earth Science Teacher of the United States. He has written curriculum for Al Gore's film Inconvenient Truth, Michael Pollan's Botany of Desire, the Weather Channel, Environmental Literacy Council, ASPCA, Duke TIP, and the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction. He serves on boards for the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, Appalachian State University, Wingate University, Mccoll Center for the Visual Arts and Johnson C. Smith University. Eric has been in education for 26 years, and currently serves as a Technology Integration Specialist for SPARCC in Canton, Ohio where he oversees G Suite for Education implementation, training, and support, as well as other technology integration initiatives. Eric is an authorized Google for Education Trainer and Innovator, and provides G Suite training to schools, organizations, and conferences throughout Ohio and across the country. He is a co-leader of the Ohio Google Educator Group at bit.ly/gegohio and runs the blog www.ControlAltAchieve.com where all of his Google and edtech resources can be found.
Dr. Lee Green is a Innovation/Design Teacher at the Floyd County Schools College and Career Academy in Rome, GA, as well as a Google Certified Innovator and Trainer. In his previous life, Dr. Green worked to develop Instructional Technology Professional Development for his school system. He loves playing with all things tech and helping others figure out creative ways to solve their problems.
Janelle is an education consultant, presenter, coach, keynote speaker and trainer. Over the years she has been a classroom teacher and district administrator. Today, Janelle is also an entrepreneur, a blogger, a social media strategist and a tech geek (She can definitely geek out over Google Drive workflow solutions). Specialties include Blended Learning, 1:1 implementation, technology integration, G Suite, Chromebooks, process management and organizational leadership.
These passions and experiences led her to begin her own company, Innovative Education Solutions. She gets to utilize her teaching talents by working with schools and other businesses to make their jobs easier and more efficient, while focusing on the people.
Michael Meechin is a national keynote speaker, practicing high school principal, educational consultant, and writer. Michael has worked with districts and schools across the United States and Canada on issues ranging from educational reform, high-impact instructional strategies, grading and assessment, instructional technology, school culture building and rebranding, and instructional leadership strategies. Meechin is a product of the inner-city public education system. He has spent his career working with high needs populations in Central Florida and Metropolitan Atlanta. Serving as a social studies teacher, AVID coordinator, data and assessment coordinator, dean of students, assistant principal and principal, Mike has a wide array of experiences which make him an asset to schools and districts looking for support in improving their practice. Mike serves on the Advisory Board for the Future of Educational Technology Conference, one of the largest technology conferences in North America. Michael is a member of the State of Florida AVID Principals' Collaborative (www.avid.org) and the Florida Department of Education Brian Dassler Leadership Academy. In 2018, Mike was selected State of Florida Innovative Principal of the Year by the Florida Council of Instructional Technology Leaders.
Dr. Cindy Moss is currently the VP of Global STEM Initiatives for Discovery Education, and travels the world helping companies, nonprofits, Ministries of Education and school districts understand the importance of STEM education and how to implement it successfully. Previously Dr. Moss served 10 years as the PreK-12 Director of STEM for the 145,000 students and 10,000 teachers in the Charlotte Mecklenburg School system. While there her work to decrease the achievement gap helped earn the district the Broad Award, often considered the superbowl of urban education. As a teacher Dr. Moss taught Biology, Chemistry, Anatomy and Earth Science for 20 years, and earned numerous awards, including the Milken National Educator Award. She earned a BS in Zoology from the University of North Carolina, where she was a Morehead Scholar; her masters in Science Teaching from Syracuse University and her Ph.D from Curtin Institute of Technology in Perth, Western Australia. Her recent awards include Top 100 Women in STEM Award from STEM Connector, the top 100 women in Diversity in STEM from Diversity Matters and 1 of the top 25 Business women in Charlotte from the Charlotte Business Journal.
